Amazon Prime Video launched in 2016 using technology and content from Amazon’s previous digital video marketplaces as well as those acquired through the 2011 takeover of UK-based LoveFilm. It offers a range of films, entertainment and sport, with the intention of supporting Amazon’s core retail services.
Live sport is a valuable customer and acquisition tool for Amazon Prime, which includes a range of benefits, of which the most noteworthy is free delivery. Prime subscribers tend to spend more on Amazon than non-Prime customers, which means more revenue.
